grumpy old landlordHi, and welcome to Grumpy Old Landlord.

In this blog you will find a variety of articles from my own personal experience of building a portfolio of properties across the eastern region of the United Kingdom for the rental market, and managing the letting of these properties. I will give you a no-holds-barred view of what it really is like to be a property landlord in the UK.

The inducements given to us by previous governments encouraged the idea of home ownership being a must-have goal to achieve, and coupled with the introduction of the buy- to-let financial products, the UK enjoyed a boom in the property market which was not seen anywhere else in Europe. For a significant majority of those of us that chose to invest in the property rental market, the aim was to build wealth for the long term. Whether we achieve that is yet to be seen, considering the recent turbulent events in the financial markets.

This blog will reflect on my journey from accidental landlord to experienced portfolio landlord, the successes I have enjoyed and the failures that I have endured. I will share strategies, tips and techniques that, hopefully, will help other landlords out there transform the way they manage their porfolio, be it one property or tens of properties.

      I have spent the last hour reading bits of your blog. As a fellow LL I could have written most of the posts myself. Its so funny reading what happens to me on a weekly basis written by someone else. I too am in the Eastern region.
